SAR Piedmont Chapter awards students at Sope Creek Elementary

Cobb County students from Sope Creek Elementary School were recognized by the SAR Piedmont Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, for achievement in the annual Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest.

On April 13, 2023, members of the Piedmont Chapter, Georgia Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Bob Sapp and Stacey McCarver, presented certificates of achievement and award checks to the Piedmont Chapter first-place winner, Miraya Vyas; second-place winner, Aiden Doan; and third-place winner, Bahar Karimi.

For the 2022-2023 school year, the students chose from five Revolutionary War-erapersonalities to develop their posters: George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Sybil Ludington, Patrick Henry, or John Adams. First-place winner Miraya Vyas chose Benjamin Franklin as the subject for her winning entry.

The poster from winner Miraya Vyas has been submitted to the Georgia Society, Sons of the American Revolution, as part of a state-wide competition.

The Sons of the American Revolution is a national patriotic, historical and educational society whose members are direct descendants of the patriots who earned our independence.
