SAR Piedmont Chapter presents check to the Atlanta VA Hospital
The SAR Piedmont Chapter presents check for Women Veterans to the Atlanta VA Hospital

The Piedmont Chapter (Roswell, GA), Georgia Society, Sons of the American Revolution, completed its fourth annual Joe Zimmerman fund raiser for Veterans. A Golf Ball drop raffle on November 13th was the main attraction to stimulate donations and raffle ticket purchases. The Golf Ball drop raffle was supported by the Brookfield Country Club and the Roswell Fire Department. Proceeds from the fund raiser were targeted to support Atlanta area women veterans. The Atlanta area has the highest number of women veterans (over 24,000) of any city in the United States. The funds provide immediate assistance to area women veterans in time of need ranging from shelter and medical assistance to newborn care.
“We thank the local community for their tremendous support of this yearly event” noted Rob Ufford, chairman of the Piedmont Chapter Veterans Committee. “The raffle (first place prize: $1000) was a fun way to raise money and more importantly to increase awareness of the challenges that many women veterans face.” The fund raiser culminated with a check presentation ceremony at the Atlanta VA Medical Center on December 11,, 2023.
