MILTON, GA — A teenager was injured Monday afternoon when a car crashed into a utility pole, sending downed power lines across a segment of Freemanville Road in Milton, the police department said.

A vehicle occupied with two juveniles left the roadway in the vicinity of 13230 Freemanville Road and struck a power pole, said Milton police Capt. Charles Barstow.

The city of Milton initially said this portion of Freemanville Road would be closed for about three hours. However, the downed power pole also opened up a nearby gas line, "so this must be repaired before the utility pole and lines can be reinstalled," said city spokesperson Shannon Ferguson.

The repairs are expected to take at least six hours and about 200 residents are without power.

"All utility providers are on-site and working to repair and reopen the roadway as quickly as possible," she told Patch, adding these include patching the gas line, installing the new pole and running the power line.
