Two New Parking Decks Coming To Downtown Alpharetta
One structure will be located at a current public parking lot on Old Roswell Street and another on Milton Avenue.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- After months of discussions, Alpharetta leaders have finally decided how they will move forward with accommodating the growing number of visitors to its downtown area.
The City Council on Monday voted to pursue so-called Option C to meet the growing parking needs in the area.
This option calls for constructing two decks: one at the current public parking lot on Old Roswell Street -- known as Site A -- and the other on Milton Avenue just west of the veterinary clinic on property recently purchased by the city -- known as site D.

The deck on Site A would largely be at or below street grade, which will provide for a public gathering space at the location. The deck on Site D would be three levels, all above ground, the city notes.
According to city documents, option C is slated to provide 355 parking spaces and cost roughly $8 million construct. Funding for the project would come from proceeds of the sale of property at City Center as well as from any capital funds that have not been allocated, the city notes.

Option C was rolled out to the public on Feb. 13 as a way to address the area's parking needs as well as concerns expressed by residents.
Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard said the city does not have an exact timeline on when the work will start, but noted the site on Milton Avenue will be the first it tackles.
Once that's completed and open for use, work on the Old Roswell Street site will commence, he added.
