Woman Crashes Car Following Road Rage Incident at Alpharetta Mall
Two vehicles were traveling at about 100 mph when one crashed into the median on Mansell Road Saturday near North Point Mall.

ALPHARETTA, GA — A road rage incident morphed into a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Alpharetta, resulting in police slapping both parties with traffic-related charges.
An officer with Alpharetta Department of Public Safety was dispatched around 10 a.m. Nov. 26 to an accident involving a Mercedes Benz, which crashed into the median on Mansell Road at North Point Parkway.
According to a witness, the wreck followed an apparent road rage incident that also involved the driver of a silver Camaro. The witness reportedly told police that both drivers were easily traveling at 100 mph.

"He said the Camaro was in the right lane and the Mercedes was in the left lane," according to an incident report released by the agency. "He said as they got close to Mansell Road the Mercedes cut in front of the Camaro in the right turn lane causing the Mercedes to lose control and run into the curb/median on Mansell Road."
The witness continued to tail the Camaro to the convenience store where he provided the car's license plate number to 911 dispatchers.

At the scene of the wreck, the officer met with the driver of the Mercedes, identified as Kayla Montoya Mathis, 25, who said the series of events started in the parking lot of Dillard's, her place of employment, according to the incident report.
Mathis said she was facing one way in a lane of travel while the driver of the Camaro, later identified as Jade Esa Pearson, was facing the opposite direction.
Both motorists were in each others' way, "which prompted a dispute," the report notes. The confrontation escalated to where Pearson allegedly threw water on her and, in turn, she yelled an obscenity "as she gave him the middle finger," the incident report states.
According to the woman, she continued to travel southbound on North Point Parkway, with Pearson behind her, when she lost control of her vehicle at the Mansell Road intersection.
While interviewing the driver of the Mercedes, the officer noted the vehicle matching the description of the Camaro began to drive away from the BP convenience store located near the site of the crash.
The officer caught up with the vehicle on Old Alabama Road Connector and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as Pearson, initially told police he "just dropped his girlfriend off at the mall where she works" and made his way to the convenience store.
When he was asked about the incident at Dillard's, Pearson said he and Mathis were facing opposite directions in one lane, but they could not make their respective turns because of the position of their vehicles.
According to the report, Pearson, 37, told the officer the incident "escalated to the point where Mathis then threw something at his car."
In response, Pearson said he allegedly threw water at Mathis' car and tried to get away, but the Mercedes followed him on North Point Parkway, passed his vehicle and crashed into the median on Mansell Road.
Alpharetta police arrested both Pearson and Mathis and charged them in connection to the events, Pearson with aggressive driving and Mathis with aggressive driving and failure to maintain lane. Pearson was also cited for window tint violation, expired tag and tire tread violation.
Both motorists will appear in court in Feb. 21, 2017, to answer to the charges.
