2 Arrested, Charged in Shooting Death of UGA Student

They are charged in the Jan. 13 homicide of Min Seok Cho, allegedly during a drug deal.

Athens-Clarke Police have arrested and charged two men in the shooting death of University of Georgia student Min Seok Cho on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Cormaine Goss, 21, and Andre Ruff, 18, both of Athens, face charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, police said in a news release. They were arrested Wednesday.

Police believe Cho, 21, was shot while in the area of Baxter Drive in Athens and then taken by private vehicle to the Athens Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that this incident was not a random act, but that the victim met Ruff and Goss to exchange marijuana,” police said in the news release.
