ATHENS, GA — An Atlanta man is facing charges after a 14-year-old girl was found Wednesday with a gunshot wound, and a 5-year-old girl suffered a face injury, in a North Avenue shooting, Athens-Clarke County Police said Friday.

Police say Rasheed Scott, 38, was arrested Thursday and was charged on suspicion of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The Gwinnett County Police Department and the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force assisted with his arrest.

Police said it is uncertain if the child's face injury was due to a gunshot wound, bullet fragment or shattered glass. Both girls were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The circumstances of the shooting have not been released.
