Daughter Claims Debbie Collier May Have Taken Own Life

Debbie Collier, an Athens woman, went missing on Sept. 10.

HABERSHAM COUNTY, GA — Authorities are still investigating the disappearance and death of Athens woman Debbie Collier, and her daughter detailed on a podcast Collier's actions before her disappearance.

Collier went missing on Sept. 10. Her body was found a day later in a Habersham County embankment, according to past reports.

Collier's daughter, Amanda Bearden, was a guest on the "Crime on Record" podcast and said Collier had given her all of her belongings and took off of work the week of her disappearance.

In the hour-and-a-half long interview, Bearden said her mother had been behaving oddly and had become depressed. She agreed with interviewers that authorities are waiting to tell the public Collier's death was a suicide until all toxicology reports return.

Bearden, who said she was interrogated by investigators, said she was cleared as a suspect in the case.

No arrests have been made in the case, according to media reports.
