GA Subversion Case: Ex-DOJ Official In Court, 900 Likely Jurors Tapped

According to a media report, ex-DOJ official Jeffrey Clark wants his Georgia RICO case to move to federal court.

ATLANTA, GA — U.S. District Judge Steve Jones will hear arguments Monday from former Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark, who requested to have his Georgia election interference case move to federal court, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Clark is one of 19 defendants accused of helping former U.S. President Donald J. Trump in his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 Georgia presidential election results. Trump, who was the incumbent, competed against U.S. President Joe Biden in the presidential contest but lost the political race.

Clark was charged on suspicion of violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and conspiracy to commit false statements and writings in Fulton County, according to jail records. He was released on a $100,000 bond.

Meanwhile, a separate Fox 5 report Monday said jury selection for Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell, two ex-Trump attorneys, is set to start in October. Selection will take place from a pool of 900 potential jurors, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Powell was charged on suspicion of violating the RICO Act, conspiracy to commit election fraud, conspiracy to commit election fraud, conspiracy to commit computer theft, conspiracy to commit computer trespass, conspiracy to commit computer invasion of privacy, conspiracy to defraud the state. Powell was released from the Fulton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Chesebro was charged on suspicion of violation of the RICO Act, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, two counts of first-degree conspiracy to commit forgery, conspiracy to commit false statements and writings and two counts of conspiracy to commit filing false documents. Chesebro's bond agreement was for $100,000, according to jail records.

Trump is also facing RICO charges, among others, in the Fulton County election interference case.

Fox 5 reported the trial against Chesebro and Powell will begin on Oct. 23 after both attorneys requested speedy trials. The pair is the only set of defendants to be tried separately from the other defendants.
