Atlanta Area Snowfall Totals For Dec. 8, 9
Totals from the season's first snowfall are here. Carters Lake and Kennesaw had the highest, based on preliminary data.

ATLANTA, GA — From a foot of snow in the Dallas area to a mere trace in Athens, the first snowstorm of the 2017-18 winter season are impressive. The snow totals are in from National Weather Service employees, highway departments, trained spotters and Atlanta media. At the end of the day, Dallas had reported the highest accumulation in the metro with 12 inches of snow measured there, as well as in Carters Lake, Lost Mountain and Bremen. Kennesaw had 11 inches.
Temperatures hit the low 40s Sunday, which helped melt ice and snow, but they will drop below freezing overnight, and weather officials warned of the possibility of ice, particularly around parking lots, sidewalks, bridges, overpasses and elevated roads.
Black ice will be possible on some roads tonight where recent snowfall had been melting. Temperatures will dip in to the mid to upper 20s before rising above freezing between 9 and 10 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said Sunday. Drivers should use caution when traveling.
