The man was accused of pulling out a gun during a Feb. 24 drug stop at a MARTA station.

ATLANTA, GA — A man who was shot to death in February by an undercover MARTA police officer was identified Wednesday by authorities as Osiris Rashad Solomon, 23, of Atlanta.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation began investigating the case after authorities accused Solomon of pulling out a gun during a Feb. 24 drug stop at North Avenue Station.

According to authorities in the past, two undercover MARTA police officers were patrolling the station when they spotted a man with suspected illegal drugs.

The GBI said officers tried to take him into custody but the man fought the officers and tried to escape. One officer deployed a taser but still wasn't able to take the man into custody, authorities said.

The suspect again tried to escape and pulled out a gun, prompting one of the officers to shoot him, authorities said.
