Atlanta Mayor Shakes Up City Hall

ATLANTA, GA — Four months into her tenure, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on Monday shook up city hall — asking for the resignations of her entire cabinet.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quotes an unnamed city official saying that all 35 members of the cabinet, who help set policy at city hall, were asked to hand in their resignations. The source is one of the people asked to resign, the AJC reported.

Bottoms' office did not immediately respond to a request Monday afternoon for comment for this story.

Bottoms told the cabinet she will decide by the end of the week which resignations she will accept and which she will decline, according to the source.

After narrowly defeating fellow city council member Mary Norwood in a runoff election in December, Bottoms took office in January. A political protoge' of former Mayor Kasim Reed, who endorsed Bottoms in the race, the new mayor kept on many of Reed's former staffers upon taking office.

The call for her cabinet's resignations comes as investigations into corruption involving former City of Atlanta staffers continue.
