Atlanta Officer Shot While Working Off-Duty Job
The Atlanta officer was in stable condition and was expected to make a full recovery.
ATLANTA, GA — An Atlanta police officer working an off-duty job was injured early Sunday morning after being shot in the 200 block of Courtland Street, Atlanta Police's Assistant Chief Carven Tyus said at a Sunday news conference.
The unidentified officer was one of several off-duty officers who heard gunfire being exchanged near Courtland. Tyus said the officers responded to the gunfire, and an officer was shot in the arm.
The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital by police vehicle, police said in a news release. He was in stable condition and was expected to make a full recovery, police said.

"Right now, he's surrounded by family and friends, and he's in good condition," Tyus said at the news conference.
Details leading up to the shooting are unknown. Several potential witnesses were taken to Atlanta Police headquarters to speak with investigators.

No APD officers fired their weapons during the shooting, and no additional injuries were reported, Tyus said. No arrests have been made, and APD continues to investigate the case.
