Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade And More Cancelled: Coronavirus
The St. Patrick's Day Parade for Saturday has been cancelled, organizers said.
ATLANTA, GA — The Irish Network of Atlanta announced Wednesday on Facebook that Atlanta has canceled its Saturday St. Patrick’s Day parade and festival as a safety precaution against COVID-19.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade is cancelling this year’s event due to the growing concerns about the COVID – 19 virus,” organizers said. “The health and safety of our participants, volunteers and attendees are of the utmost importance to us and we felt this was the only responsible action we could have taken. We hope this mitigation measure will help keep metro Atlanta residents safe.”

- Congressman John Lewis’ 80th birthday celebration has been postponed.
- Congressman David Scott announced that the 17th Annual Jobs Fair at the Georgia International Convention Center set for March 27 has been postponed.
- The African American Male Wellness Walk has been postponed, along with other public events hosted by the Morehouse School of Medicine.
- Cobb County has canceled the remaining SPLOST open houses for the month of March.
- West Cobb Regional Library is closed for cleaning.
- The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta says they will only be holding programs with less than 250 people in any confined space.

Globally, more than 121,000 people have been infected and more than 4,300 people have died from the COVID-19, Johns Hopkins reported Tuesday. Of that total, more than 80,000 confirmed cases are in China, while the entire United States has 1,323 confirmed cases as of Thursday morning. Thirty deaths in the U.S. have been tied to the virus outbreak.
