Tara Atlanta presents the Oscar-qualifying screenings of Baristas vs. Billionaires, a powerful new documentary about a generational uprising of young, working-class activists—Starbucks baristas who set out to form the company’s first union store, which then spread like wildfire into a nationwide movement now including 700 Starbucks cafés and 12,000 baristas. Narrated by Susan Sarandon, this fast-paced, feature-length film pulls back the curtain on the stark contradiction between Starbucks’ carefully cultivated reputation and the reality workers face behind the scenes. Told in their own words, the baristas share how they’re organizing to win recognition for Starbucks Workers United (SBWU) and fight for their livelihoods. The film recently won the Grand Jury Prize at the Ethos International Film Festival, Best Western New York Feature, Buffalo International Film Festival, the 2026 Labor Oscar from the Labor Heritage Foundation and Best Documentary, Workers Unite Film Festival. You’ll never look at Starbucks the same way again.
