Legendary singer, songwriter and Motown icon Smokey Robinson will bring his Legacy of Love Tour to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. The evening will celebrate more than six decades of music from one of the most influential voices and songwriters in American popular music. Tickets are on sale now at foxtheatre.org.
Robinson’s remarkable career began in Detroit, where he founded The Miracles while still in high school. The group became Berry Gordy’s first vocal group, and Robinson’s suggestion helped inspire Gordy to launch what would become the Motown Records dynasty.
The Miracles’ “Shop Around” became Motown’s first No. 1 hit on the R&B singles chart, launching a run of classics that included “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me,” “Ooo Baby Baby,” “The Tracks of My Tears,” “Going to a Go-Go,” “More Love,” “The Tears of a Clown” and “I Second That Emotion.”
As a songwriter and producer, Robinson also helped shape the Motown sound for generations, writing and producing hits for artists including The Temptations, Mary Wells, Brenda Holloway and Marvin Gaye. His songwriting credits include enduring favorites such as “My Girl,” “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t That Peculiar” and “My Guy.” Robinson later launched a successful solo career with hits including “Cruisin’,” “Quiet Storm,” “Being with You” and “Just to See Her.”
Robinson’s honors include the Grammy Living Legend Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy, Kennedy Center Honors and the National Medal of Arts. He has also been inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
In 2026, Robinson continues performing on his Legacy of Love Tour while promoting “Be Thankful,” a new single from his current album “What The World Needs Now.”
