Cobb I-20 E Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer Kills Conyers Man

ATLANTA — A 38-year-old Conyers man died Sunday in a crash involving a tractor-trailer at I-20 east near the Fulton County line, Cobb County Police said Monday.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m., when a white 2024 Mercedes GLE-450 was traveling east on I-20, east of Riverside Parkway, police said.

The Mercedes speedily crashed into the back of a 2023 Kenworth T680, sending the Mercedes south before it crashed into a concrete wall over the Chattahoochee River, police said.

Police said the Mercedes then continued into Fulton before uncontrollably resting against a guardrail. The tractor-trailer controllably stopped on the shoulder east of the Mercedes, police said.

Dewayne John, identified by police as the driver of the Mercedes, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office, police said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
