ATLANTA, GA – A woman in her 70s was killed in her home early Tuesday when a large tree fell down on her two-story home on Ridgemore Road Northwest, tweeted Atlanta Fire Rescue.

Firefighters worked for two hours to reach the woman who they said may have been in her bedroom when the tree came down. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, crews were able to speak to the woman when they first arrived. A team of rescuers that specializes in maneuvering in collapsed buildings was called to bring the woman out.

“Right now, it is a recovery operation,” Atlanta fire spokesman Sgt. Cortez Stafford told Channel 2 Action News. “We want to make sure that we can remove the debris from around her so the medical examiner can get in there safely as well.”
