Family of Man Who Died at Turner Field Sues Braves, MLB
Greg Murrey fell from a Turner Field upper deck in August 2015. His family says the stadium's safety railings should be higher.
ATLANTA, GA -- The family of an Alpharetta man who died last year after falling from a Turner Field upper deck is suing the Atlanta Braves.
Gregory Kent Murrey fell last August during a Braves game against the New York Yankees. He stood up to boo the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez and toppled over from his second row seat, falling 40 feet to his death.
Days after the incident, the Fulton County Medical Examiner determined Murrey's death an accident, adding "there was no underlying medical condition found that contributed to death.” An autopsy ruled the cause of death as ”blunt force injuries to the head and torso.”

On Tuesday, Murrey's family filed a lawsuit against the Braves and Major League Baseball. According to the AJC, the lawsuit says that the 30-inch railing over which Murrey fell should be higher, and that both the Braves and MLB are aware that they should be higher.
This is the last season the Braves will play at Turner Field. The team is building a new stadium called SunTrust Park in Cobb County, and will move into the ballpark in time for the 2017 season.
