Flash Flooding, Damaging Wind Gusts Hazards With Metro ATL Rain
Strong to severe thunderstorms and possible showers should pour into metro Atlanta early this week, staring early Monday afternoon.
ATLANTA, GA — A stalled boundary draped across central Georgia is expected to cause more rain in metro Atlanta early this week, weather officials told Patch.
Showers and strong to severe thunderstorms are likely for early afternoon Monday, bringing with them damaging wind gusts between 40 and 60 degrees, said Ansley Long, meteorologist with the National Weather Service's Peachtree City office.
Long said the boundary moved into the metro Sunday from the northern area near Tennessee, began to push out but stalled south of Interstate 20.

Aside from damaging winds that could knock down trees and power lines, she said flash flooding is a concern as some of the rain could produce periods of locally heavy rainfall, which could cause flash flooding.
The rain is set to continue through Wednesday, with the overnight hours being the lowest chance for showers.
