Flash Flood Warning Issued For 4 Metro Atlanta Counties
The weather service warns drivers to turn around when faced with flooded roadways to avoid possible danger.
ATLANTA, GA — Portions of metro Atlanta are under a flash flood warning until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service's Peachtree City office.
The warning was issued at 2:32 p.m. for southern Cobb, northern DeKalb, central Fulton and southern Gwinnett counties.
"Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," forecasters wrote in the alert.

The weather service said there could be flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Flash flooding could also exist in other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Forecasters warn that drivers should turn around if they come across flooded roadways.

"Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads," forecasters wrote in the alert.
