Fulton Co. Cyberattack Not Related To 'Election Process': Officials
Fulton County officials shared an update Monday on systems restored after a Jan. 29 cybersecurity threat on all county offices.
ATLANTA, GA — Fulton County officials say there is no evidence that a recent cybersecurity threat that targeted county offices was "related to the election process or other current events."
County officials said Monday efforts continued through the weekend to restore systems affected by a Jan. 29 cyberattack. Both local and federal authorities have been notified of the attack and external experts have been helping to investigate and assist during recovery.
The cyberattack came amid the Fulton prosecution of former U.S. President Donald Trump and 18 others who are accused of trying to interfere with the 2020 election and overturn Georgia's results in the election. Trump has publicly denied claims made against him and pleaded not guilty of racketeering charges.
