GA Opens Probe Into Roblox Amid Child Exploitation Allegations

Georgia prosecutors are investigating Roblox after receiving multiple reports of child abuse and sexual exploitation.

ATLANTA, GA — Georgia's top prosecutor is investigating Roblox after receiving multiple reports of child abuse and sexual exploitation relating to the popular online gaming platform.

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr on Tuesday said his department is opening the probe after the Georgia State Patrol rescued two girls who disappeared from their Florida home earlier in the year, his office said. The girls met a 19-year-old through Roblox, according to Carr's office.

Additionally, prosecutors say an adult posed as a child and chatted with a 12-year-old boy through Roblox. The boy "was later coerced into sending explicit photos," prosecutors said.

“Predators are using online platforms like Roblox to go after our children, and we’re fighting back,” Carr said in a news release. “As a father and attorney general, keeping kids safe will always be my top priority, and any company that exposes them to harm will be held accountable.”

Carr said his office sent Roblox a civil investigative demand, requesting information related to the following:

  • Reports of abuse, safety violations and safety issues from Georgia users;
  • Documents related to the harm experienced by children who used the platform;
  • Communications on the efficacy of parental controls;
  • Documents on chat and game moderation capabilities;
  • Documents on age verification procedures for child users;
  • Information and any audits on adult/child interactions;
  • Reports of criminal activity relating to the platform; and
  • Marketing materials that relate to the platform’s suitability for children.

Carr's investigation comes after a mother in DeKalb County sued Roblox, claiming her 9-year-old son was groomed and sexually exploited through the popular online app.

Roblox, which has been under fire regarding parents' safety concerns, was used by adults who were pretending to be children and coercing the boy into sending them "explicit images of himself," the lawsuit reportedly claimed in August 2025. The adults were accused of harassing the boy and sending him pornographic material.

This all came three years after a Clayton County man was accused of persuading a 13-year-old Kansas girl to live with him, WAGA-TV reported. The pair met on Roblox, and the girl was trafficked and raped, WAGA-TV reported at the time.

In 2024, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation placed Roblox on its Dirty Dozen list of "mainstream contributors to sexual exploitation."

According to its online safety policy, Roblox established a tool for users to report their safety concerns. Parental controls have been put into place as Roblox acknowledged their platform "is made up of users of all ages."

The policy read, in part:

"Roblox cares about the safety of its users. If you see any content or materials on the services that appears to recruit, entice, advertise or solicit any person to perform a sexual, violent or illegal act, please contact Roblox Support and select the 'User Safety Concern' help category to immediately report the user and situation. ... Any violation of the Community Standards is considered a violation of the Roblox terms and may result in account suspension or termination. ... We work hard to promote a safe and fun environment for all. To help foster this community, we provide users and their parents/guardians with numerous safety features and controls."
