No officers were injured in the shooting. All students and staff are safe and school operations were not disrupted, according to the GBI.

As is routine with officer-involved shootings in the state, the GBI is conducting an independent investigation. A spokesperson said it had not yet been determined Tuesday afternoon why the man was walking toward the school with the weapon.
