Georgia Power: 100 Percent Power Restored to Customers By Wednesday
There are still about 70,000 customers without electricity in coastal Georgia.

ATLANTA, GA — About 70,000 people are still without power in coastal Georgia in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, but Georgia Power said it expects to have 100 percent of its service restored by Wednesday.
The company said Tuesday it has restored service restored to more than 90 percent of customers impacted by the storm, which pounded the Georgia coast with winds of more than 100 miles per hour and extensive flooding over the weekend.
Hurricane Matthew was one of the strongest storms to hit the region in a century and interrupted service to more than 340,000 customers.

The company expects to restore power to nearly 100 percent of customers in Brunswick, Jesup, St. Simons and Jekyll Islands on Wednesday. The company completed restoration efforts to nearly all customers in Statesboro Monday night.
Georgia Power has restored power to about 60 percent of Savannah-area customers, with about 56,000 customers still without service.
