Junior League of Atlanta Launches League Year 110, Marking a Century-Plus of Service to the Atlanta Community

ATLANTA, GA — The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. (JLA) proudly announces the start of its 110th year of service, marking the opening of a landmark year for one of Atlanta's most enduring women's volunteer organizations. Founded in 1916, JLA enters this milestone year with an unwavering commitment to advancing women's leadership and meaningful community impact across the greater Atlanta area.

For 110 years, JLA has been a cornerstone in Atlanta — training women to lead, mobilizing volunteers to serve, and partnering with nonprofit organizations to address the city's most pressing community needs. From its earliest days to the present, JLA has remained dedicated to its mission: to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

A New Chapter of Leadership

Year 110 began with the installation of JLA's 2026–2027 Board of Directors and inaugural Senior Management Council. Kristen Settlemire Fuller serves as President, leading JLA's Board of Directors in governing and strategic oversight of the organization. Lauren Parkerson serves as JLA’s first Executive Vice President, overseeing the Senior Management Council responsible for executing JLA’s day-to-day operations and programming.

The incoming leadership team brings broad expertise across community impact, fund development, membership, training, and operations. The new governance structure provides additional focus for leaders, positioning JLA well to advance its new 2026–2029 Strategic Plan and deepen its footprint in Atlanta's nonprofit landscape.

110 Years of Community Impact

Since its founding, JLA has shaped the fabric of Atlanta, playing a foundational role in creating several of Atlanta's most beloved civic institutions, including the Atlanta Speech School, the Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter, and Trees Atlanta. JLA’s legacy of community-building remains central to its identity in its 110th year.

Today, JLA's community work is anchored by “Every Child Reads: The Junior League of Atlanta’s Journey to Literacy for All.” This initiative is rooted in the belief that every child, in every family, from every neighborhood of Atlanta must have access to the language and literacy skills they need to learn to read, in order to empower the self-determination of Atlanta’s women and children. Every Child Reads enables JLA members to rally around a common purpose aligned with the organization’s 110-year legacy of positively impacting women and children in Atlanta.

JLA members currently serve in 11 community agency placements, including Agape Youth & Family Center and Atlanta Mission, and three community relations placements, such as Journey to Literacy and Handmade by JLA. Additionally, JLA works with over 200 community partners throughout metro Atlanta aligned in advancing the organization’s mission-aligned work.
