KSU's CCPE Honored by ACHE

4 individuals receive awards for notable contributions to professional education

The College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) at Kennesaw State University has received recognition from the Association of Continuing Higher Education (ACHE). The award recipients were honored for their notable contributions to professional education. Individual awards will be presented at the annual ACHE conference, October 8-10, 2018, in Rhode Island.

“These awards are reflective of the innovation and collaboration that happens daily in our college,” said Dr. Tim Blumentritt, interim dean. “Our team works diligently to provide our students with opportunities to advance their careers and acquire skills in a hands-on learning environment.”

Award recipients are as follows:

  • Emeritus Award - Barbara Calhoun, retired dean. This award provides recognition to association members upon their official retirement who have displayed a significant degree of leadership.
  • Meritorious Award - Michelle Girage, assistant dean. This award recognizes individuals for their outstanding leadership, performance and service to higher education.
  • Leadership Award - Davia Rose Lassiter, director of marketing. This award is the highest award presented by ACHE and recognizes an individual who has made extraordinary contributions in leadership, theory, and practice in higher education on a national or international level.
  • Rising Star Award - Rebecca Mattox, program manager. This award is given to someone who has developed or extended an outstanding program.

ACHE also awarded CCPE with the Crystal Marketing Award, measured by the strategic approach, quality of work, creativity and results achieved for Open House. The free event, hosted biannually (January and August), provides prospective students with a unique opportunity to learn about professional certificate programs, leisure and online courses. Students also learn about financial assistance options and receive information and resources about resume writing, job sites and other useful tools for employment from KSU's Career Services and GA Department of Labor representatives. An Open House is scheduled for Aug.2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the KSU Center.
