Pregnant Woman Killed After Pickup Runs Stop Sign

The 21-year-old woman was a graduate nursing student. The accident happened around 5 pm Thursday afternoon.

ATLANTA, GA -- A 21-year-old pregnant woman, who was also a graduate nursing student, was struck and killed late Thursday by a pickup truck whose driver had run a stop sign at an Atlanta intersection.

Ke’Anna Shields was on her way to pick up her cap and gown when Eddie Haney, 58, allegedly ran a stop sign at Pryor Road and Anal Drive while driving his 2003 Toyota Tundra.

Police told Channel 2 Action News that Haney collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, ran off the road and struck Shields.

Shields was a student at United Medical and Business Institute, according to the AJC.

No word yet on whether any charges will be filed.
