Slain Atlanta Officer Will Be Laid To Rest This Week

The wife of slain Atlanta Officer Stanley Lawrence faces murder charges. The viewing, wake and funeral have been set.

ATLANTA, GA — A viewing and funeral will be held this week for a slain Atlanta police officer. Officer Stanley Lawrence, 58, was killed Feb. 19 in his Riverdale home, reports WXIA. His 49-year-old wife Tammare is charged in connection to his murder. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled in court for March 13.

The viewing for Lawrence will be held Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The wake is from 5 to 9 p.m., according to the Murray Brothers Funeral Home website. His funeral is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. at the Jackson Memorial Baptist Church on Fairburn Road.

"Stanley Lawrence was a respected officer who was beloved by his colleagues and the children of our Police Athletic League, where he worked every day to mentor and positively impact their lives," said Chief Erika Shields in a public statement. "We are deeply saddened, and will miss him terribly."

According to the department, Lawrence joined the Atlanta Police Department in December 1990.

The interment will be held following the celebration of life service on Friday at the Unity Church of God Cemetery on Sunset Boulevard in Jesup, Georgia.
