Trump, Obama Coming To GA Before Historic Governor's Election

President Trump will be in Macon Saturday, one day after Barack Obama is in Atlanta, in America's most watched governor's race.

ATLANTA, GA -- President Donald Trump will appear at a Brian Kemp campaign rally on Saturday, one day after former President Barack Obama makes a Stacey Abrams appearance in Atlanta, as the nation's most watched governor's race enters what could be its final days. Both Kemp and Abrams are seeking to replace Gov. Nathan Deal, who cannot run for a third term. Abrams is seeking to become the nation's first African-American female governor, while Kemp hopes to maintain GOP's control on the seat that it's had since 2002.

Trump, who was an early supporter of Kemp in his GOP runoff back in July against Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, will appear at a rally at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, with doors opening at 4 pm. Trump has also called Abrams "unqualified," and has been aggressive in his social media support of Kemp.

Obama, meanwhile, will appear Friday afternoon at a Morehouse College rally in SW Atlanta along with Abrams and other Democrats. Obama also has endorsed Abrams, and recently endorsed Sarah Riggs Amico's lieutenant gubernatorial campaign, along with Lucy McBath and Carolyn Bourdeaux in metro Atlanta's 6th and 7th congressional districts, respectively.

More than 1 million ballots have already been cast in a race that national Democrats hope will become a swing state, as the nation's midterm elections are widely being seen as a referendum on Trump's administration. Early voting throughout the state ends Friday, Nov. 2.

Virtually every poll has shown the race in a dead heat, with neither Kemp or Abrams polling above 50 percent to secure an outright win on Nov. 6 and avoid a December runoff.
