Uber Driver Earns College Degree Thanks To Passenger's Generosity

Latonya Young was "blown away" after receiving the call from Georgia State University telling her she could register for classes again.

ATLANTA, GA — A hair stylist by day and an Uber driver by night, a single mother from Atlanta recently got her college degree thanks to the generosity of one of her passengers.

Latonya Young, 43, was still driving for Uber when she picked up Kevin Esch outside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, WSB-TV reports. The two talked during the ride, and Young shared with Esch that she had to drop out of high school after becoming a mother at 16 and recently had to drop out of Georgia State University due to a $700 unpaid balance. "Every time I got ready to pay the money, my kids needed something," Young told him, so she decided to put college on hold.

A few days after the ride, Young received a call from the university, telling her she could register for classes, according to WSB-TV.
