UGA Early Signing Day: Top Running Back Signs With Georgia

The nation's top-ranked running back has joined what is expected to be one of the best recruiting classes in the nation at Georgia.

ATLANTA, GA — They're one of four teams still in the hunt for a National Championship. And, on Wednesday, the future was beginning to look bright as well for the Georgia Bulldogs.

On national Early Signing Day, Georgia had begun landing a slew of sought-after players — including the nation's top-ranked running back — and looked on their way to building one of the nation's top classes in head coach Kirby Smart's first full year of recruiting.

Shortly after 10 a.m., the Dawgs made what was considered their first big splash of the day, landing five-star Jamaree Salyer, a 6-4, 342-pound offensive lineman out of Pace Academy in Atlanta.

Around 11:30 a.m. they made another big move toward a top-ranked class with the signing of Zamir White — the nation's No. 1-ranked running back. Alabama, Clemson, North Carolina and Ohio State had been in the running for White, who is out of Scotland County High School in Laurinburg, N.C.

By about 10 a.m., Georgia had officially announced the signings of offensive linemen Warren Ericson and Owen Condon, punter-kicker Jake Camarda and tight end John Fitzpatrick.

Ericson, is a 6-4, 315 pound lineman out of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee and Condon is 6-7, 315 pounds and comes from Bishop McGuinness High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Camarda (6-2, 180 pounds) played for Norcross High School in Norcross.

Fitzpatrick is 6-6, 230 pounds out of Marist.

Ericson and Fitzpatrick were four-star recruits and Condon and Camarda were both ranked three-stars.

Shortly afterward, Trey Hill, a four-star offensive lineman out of Houston County High School in Warner Robins added his name to the list. Hill is 6-4, 346 pounds.

The Bulldogs did get one unexpected piece of bad news Wednesday morning when Elijah Moore, a wide receiver from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., who had committed to Georgia, flipped and signed with Ole Miss.

Multiple five-star recruits have committed to the Bulldogs — who will face Oklahoma on New Year's Day in the Rose Bowl in a National Championship semi-final game. The team also is considered to be in the running for several more.

This is a developing story. Check back here as Patch will be updating with new signing news as it becomes available.
