Unsettled Weather Pattern Brings More Rain To Metro Atlanta
The possibility of rain in metro Atlanta Thursday is due to a weak cold front traveling through central Georgia, a meteorologist said.
ATLANTA, GA — As the weekend approaches, so should more rainy weather for metro Atlanta, weather officials told Patch.
Meredith Wyatt, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said the metro is forecast to see an unsettled weather pattern through the weekend.
"We like to say when thunder roars, go indoors," she told Patch.

Rain is expected to pour in portions of the metro through Thursday afternoon due to a weak cold front traveling through central Georgia, Wyatt said. With a 60-70 percent rain chance during the daytime, the possibility for rain should diminish by nightfall.
Metro Atlanta residents are expected to get a break from the wet weather Friday though cloudy weather is anticipated, Wyatt said. Any potential showers and thunderstorms are expected to be in southeast Georgia.

Temps will be in the 70s both Thursday and Friday.
A second frontal system may enter the metro from the western region Saturday, bringing with it some showers that may clear out by nighttime, Wyatt said.
People could see additional isolated showers and thunderstorms starting around 1 p.m. Sunday.
Temps will be in the lower 80s Saturday and Sunday.
Hazards with all of the rain this week include lightning, gusty winds of 10-15 mph and locally heavy rainfall. Wyatt said wind speeds could possibly increase to 20-25 mph.
She said the wind gusts could be fast enough to toss around outside furniture and other outdoor items. She also noted the rain will cause soils to soften, possibly causing trees to fall.
Updates will be posted to the weather service's Twitter page, the weather service's Facebook page and on its website.
