What's Open, Closed On Thanksgiving 2020 In Atlanta

Many services in Atlanta are closed on Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, and some will remain closed Friday.

ATLANTA, GA — Thanksgiving may be different for some who may avoid larger gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19. What hasn't changed is the closure of many services in Atlanta for the holiday.

While Thanksgiving is a federal holiday, some services may continue their closures on Friday. Here are the openings and closings to know on and around Thursday, Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving) and Friday, Nov. 27 (Black Friday).

  • Fulton County courts, facilities and offices are closed on Thursday and Friday.
  • Fulton County public safety services are available 365 days per year.
  • There will not be garbage collection in Atlanta on Thursday, Nov. 26. Collection is delayed one day for the remainder of the week.
  • All Fulton County public libraries are offering curbside service only from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturdays. All libraries will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
  • DeKalb County Public Library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 in observance of Thanksgiving.
  • Fulton County Schools are off this week from Nov. 23-27, all offices are closed.
  • This is a federal holiday and all U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed. No mail will be delivered or sent. Regular business hours will resume Friday, Nov. 27.
  • Publix: All stores and pharmacies will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, and will resume regular hours on Black Friday.
  • Kroger: Most stores are open 24 hours. Some stores will open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
