3. Recs and Park celebrates reopening of playground at Riverwalk (theaugustapress.com) — Families in Augusta can once again enjoy the playground at the Edward M. McIntyre Sr. Riverwalk, which has reopened after Hurricane Helene damage and a $194,000 SPLOST-funded renovation. City leaders say the upgraded, more accessible play area is just the start of broader Riverwalk improvements voters approved, aiming to keep the riverfront a point of pride and attraction.

Augusta 5K honors honors 9/11 heroes (wfxg.com) — Augusta residents recently gathered at Augusta University for the 10th annual Tunnel to Towers 5K, honoring 9/11 victims and first responders close to the attack's anniversary. Local marshal's corporal and former New York first responder Joe Canavan shared emotional memories, while organizers stressed teaching younger generations about the attacks, with race proceeds supporting first responders and veterans in need.
