Suicide by cop'; Manhunt concludes for suspect involved in officer involved shootout (wfxg.com) — In Augusta, Richmond County deputies arrested Donte Godwin after a manhunt that followed an alleged assault and a shootout where a shotgun was reportedly fired at two officers. No deputies were injured, and Godwin is now held at Charles B. Webster Detention Center on an aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer charge.

Flock camera backlash grows nationwide as Augusta suspect is arrested for vandalism (theaugustapress.com) — An Augusta man was arrested after Richmond County investigators say Flock license-plate cameras helped them identify him in the vandalism of two cameras in south Augusta. 3. Recs and Park celebrates reopening of playground at Riverwalk (theaugustapress.com) — Families in Augusta can once again enjoy the playground at the Edward M. McIntyre Sr. Riverwalk, which has reopened after Hurricane Helene damage and a $194,000 SPLOST-funded renovation. City leaders say the upgraded, more accessible play area is just the start of broader Riverwalk improvements voters approved, aiming to keep the riverfront a point of pride and attraction.
   

4. Augusta 5K honors honors 9/11 heroes (wfxg.com) — Augusta residents recently gathered at Augusta University for the 10th annual Tunnel to Towers 5K, honoring 9/11 victims and first responders close to the attack's anniversary. Local marshal's corporal and former New York first responder Joe Canavan shared emotional memories, while organizers stressed teaching younger generations about the attacks, with race proceeds supporting first responders and veterans in need.
