• Avondale police eyeing new active shooter kits, vehicles (decaturish.com) — Avondale Estates leaders will meet Sept. 9 to consider buying new police vehicles and active shooter safety kits for every officer, following July 4 gunfire that cut short the city's fireworks show. Commissioners will also weigh allowing golf carts to cross U.S. 278, renewing speed detection permits, approving a construction easement, and advancing the city's comprehensive plan.
