A Bit o' Ireland Comes to Braselton

It’s no secret that Braselton’s Chateau Élan — founded by Dr. Donald and Nancy Panoz — is a true celebration of all of the good things in life, including fine wine and great food.

Built to emulate a 16^th century French chateau surrounding by fields of grape vines, the casual passerby may not realize that it is also home to an authentic Irish pub. The Panoz family — who lived and worked in Ireland for two decades — commissioned Cantrell & Crowley, a Dublin-based architectural and interior design firm to build the pub, which was then shipped to the States and reassembled at the popular North Georgia resort and winery.

Paddy’s Irish Pub opened its doors in July 1997 and has since greeted countless guests who enjoy the wonderful atmosphere (all of Paddy’s furnishings and fixtures were also created in Ireland), traditional Irish food and beverage and spirited live music.

On Saturday, March 17, Paddy’s Irish Pub will play host to what will likely be one of Barrow County’s most epic St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations. So epic, in fact, that it will take more than this quaint Irish pub to contain it.

Beginning at 11 a.m., the Chateau Élan Pavilion next to Paddy’s will be transformed into a festive Irish beer hall featuring an Irish buffet of corned beef, fish and chips, Irish wings, Irish beef stew and dessert. Items are priced by tickets, which will be available for purchase outside pavilion, where a beer truck dispensing Bass, Harp and Guinness will also be parked. Additional activities include live music by JP Winston from noon to 5 p.m. in the pavilion and again from 8:30 p.m. to midnight in the pub, and music by Jeff Gillman from 6 p.m. to midnight in the pavilion.

For those wishing to turn their St. Patty’s Day into a St. Patty’s stay, one- and two-night accommodation packages are available onsite at the Inn at Chateau Élan.
