Serving up great Mexican food at affordable prices, El Centinela has developed a devoted customer base. Repeat business is the norm here, with many folks coming in for one or multiple visits each week. The chips and salsa are worth the trip alone, but save room for the next course. The menu is a litany of the Mexican food that has been welcomed with knife and fork into America’s culinary consciousness: quesadillas, nachos, tacos, fajitas, burritos, enchiladas and other specialties. Everyone is equal at the table at El Centinela, whether you enjoy mild food or want a little heart, whether you are a vegetarian or a meat lover, whether you only drink water or wish for something stronger. If you are the latter, then the extensive bar serving beer, wine and mixed drinks will put a smile on your face. The margarita, which has been welcomed with jumbo drink glasses into America’s cocktail consciousness, is a house specialty and is the perfect accompaniment for every dish on the menu. One item that is not on the menu that keeps customers coming back for more is the friendly service. The wait staff is as much a part of the festive atmosphere as the décor.
