Georgia Piedmont Arts Center Preparing for Eventful 2012

The nonprofit arts organization is adding to its offerings in the new year.

The Georgia Piedmont Arts Center is preparing for an eventful 2012.

The nonprofit arts organization, currently based in Auburn, is filling its calendar and adding to its offerings.

New in 2012, the arts center will offer classes in clay hand-building.

Also in the works is the center's new Creative Canvas Group — an experience in acrylic painting during which participants will spend an evening completing a work on canvas. The cost for this activity, which will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. the second Thursday of every month, is $25. Private parties can be arranged.

Already in the works are three gallery exhibitions set for Jan. 21 and 22, Feb. 18 and 19 and March 17 and 18.

Two outdoor tent festivals are also planned and will showcase fine art and fine crafts April 10 and Sept. 8.

The arts center will also continue to offer classes in drawing, painting, pottery and sculpture, along with special mini workshops.

Classes for children ages 8 to 12 are offered the second Saturday of every month. Classes are $12 per session, with April and September classes offered for free.

Classes in drawing and painting are also offered for teens.
