Horse Around at Angus Valley Stables in Bethlehem

Angus Valley Stables is open to budding and veteran horse lovers in Barrow and surrounding counties.

Located on more than 95 scenic acres on the Apalachee River in Bethlehem, Angus Valley Stables features a rich blend of lush pastures, wooded trails and creek-lined paths, in addition to a large lighted outdoor arena, two lighted indoor arenas, and a lighted round pen to accommodate horse riders in North Georgia.

Angus Valley also offers American Quarter Horse Association registered Bay, Blue Roan, and Black Quarter horses for sale, as well as long-term horse boarding.

Angus Valley Stables is committed to training an up-and-coming breed of riders through western riding, English riding and horsemanship lessons. Angus Valley trainers prefer to only teach riding and horsemanship skills to serious students who want learn and plan to take lessons on a regular weekly basis. Grooming and tacking are included in one hour lessons.

While most lesson programs involve 10 year-olds through adults, Angus Valley does offer a modified program for younger students ages 5 to 9. Riding lessons are offered daily and year round by appointment, both indoor and outdoor.

Each summer, Angus Valley Stables hosts a series of summer riding camps. Each four-day riding camp typically runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Camps at Angus Valley often begin the second week of June and run through the end of July. Camps are usually limited to 12 students to ensure close personal supervision and maximum riding instruction for each child. During camp, beginning students will learn riding basics and horsemanship, as well as play games on horseback. Camp week is jam-packed with arena and trail riding, activities, farrier (horseshoeing) demonstration and even painting the digestive system and skeleton on a live horse. Campers will also learn about safe handling, grooming and tacking up. Intermediate campers will focus more on equitation — fine-tuning their horseback riding and horsemanship skills. On the last day of camp, there will be a horse show where riders can show everyone what they have learned at camp.
