It’s Time to Spring Clean, Auburn

The city of Auburn Parks and Leisure Services Department announces an upcoming spring community maintenance and clean up day Sunday, March 11.

Instead of bats and baseball gloves, local residents are encouraged to bring hand tools and work gloves to the city of Auburn Ball Park on Sunday, March 11.

As part of an ongoing effort by the city of Auburn Parks and Leisure Services Department in conjunction with the Parks and Leisure Commission, the ball park will play host to a second installment of Auburn’s quarterly community maintenance and clean up days. First debuting in November 2011 during a beautification day at , community maintenance and clean up days are designed to bring area businesses, organizations, groups and individuals within the community together to pitch in and do their part to help maintain parks and common spaces in Auburn.

The day’s events kick off at 1 p.m. and feature a variety of jobs, including litter pick up, painting, raking, athletic field maintenance and more. The Auburn Ball Park serves as home to the local baseball and softball program, Auburn Dixie Youth. In addition to tools and gloves, volunteers should plan to dress in outdoor work clothing and may want to bring a jacket in the event of rain. Bottled water is also strongly encouraged. For more information or to learn how your organization might assist in this and future clean up days, call the Auburn Parks and Leisure Services Department at 770-674-5485.
