Town of Carl Swears in First Police Officer
The town council also approved a church expansion and discussed a complaint during its meeting April 21.
The town of Carl has its first police officer.
Officer Terry Raber, who has served as Carl's town marshal since 2004, was sworn in by Mayor Dave Brock at the town council meeting April 21.
Raber was appointed to the position by Governor Nathan Deal, on the recommendation of the mayor, town council, Rep. Terry England (R-Auburn) and Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith.
The appointment will provide the residents of Carl more safety and security, which became a concern recently for the mayor and council due to Carl's growth and the economic decline.
"I will faithfully discharge my duties as the police officer to the town of Carl," Raber swore.
The appointment also makes Carl eligible to apply for state and federal grants, which they did not qualify for before.
