Traffic Signal at Ga. Highway 211 and Horton Street to Follow Light at McNeal Road

The overall road project is set to be completed April 30.

A is the first of two signals anticipated to improve traffic flow along the roadway in front of Holly Hill Mall.

The McNeal Road signal is part of a large-scale Georgia Department of Transportation project along Ga. Highway 211 to improve two intersections along the roadway, including the intersection at Horton Street.

Improvements at the intersection at Ga. Highway 211 and Horton Street include new signal equipment that will allow both signals to be synchronized. The intersections of Highway 211 at Horton, 211 at McNeal and State Route 8/U.S. Highway 29 at Horton will all be timed to work together.

Ga. Highway 211 at Horton Street will have left turn lanes eastbound and westbound and will have a right turn lane on 211 eastbound. Horton Street will have left turn lanes northbound and southbound.

The anticipated completion date for the $1.7 million project is April 30.

In addition to new signal equipment, the intersections will get new mast arms to support the signals and will be fully pedestrianized with push button access for crosswalks. Turn lanes are also being added to help traffic to flow more efficiently based on traffic counts.

Crews are actively working at both intersections and the Georgia DOT urges drivers to be cautious when traveling through the work zone.
