The variance request from Aldi asked that the board decrease the required number of parking spaces for the store — about 97 spaces based on the planned sales area — to 75 for the 3.44-acre property, which is at 160 W. May St.

City Planning Director Barry Edgar said current site plans show 82 parking spaces.
