Buckhead resident Garrett Hyer, Community Planner/Designer with TSW, a full-service planning, architecture and landscape architecture firm headquartered in Midtown (www.tsw-design.com), has been elected to the Board of the Georgia Planning Association (GPA) as a Non-AICP Director at Large. In his new role, he will assist the GPA Board and District Directors, and will sit on the organization’s Planning Committee and aid the Atlanta Young Planners Group. He previously served as the GPA’s Statewide Student Representative as he completed his Master of City and Regional Planning at Georgia Tech.
“My work with GPA has been extremely rewarding,” said Hyer. “Last year, I had the opportunity to create and organize the inaugural Southeast Planning Students Conference (SEPSC) in conjunction with GPA’s annual Fall Conference. We brought together about 65 planning students from 10 urban planning master programs throughout the Southeast to collaborate and share information on their studio projects, thesis and research papers. We recently held the second SEPSC in conjunction with the South Carolina Planning Association’s Fall Conference. My GPA work really complements my professional responsibilities at TSW since TSW is committed to creating great places through panning and design and that is exactly what GPA fosters.”
