Buckhead Executive's Shooting Death Ruled a Homicide
Diane McIver died after being shot in the back in a car near Piedmont Park early Monday morning.

ATLANTA, GA — The Buckhead woman who died from a gunshot wound was shot in the back while in the front seat of an SUV near Piedmont Park.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office said Diane McIver's death has been ruled a homicide, according to the AJC.
McIver was shot late Sunday night while in an SUV with other people she knew, police said earlier this week. After the shooting, she was driven to Emory University Hospital, where she died from her injuries early Monday morning.

Police have not released the names of the other people who were in the car at the time of the incident.
McIver was the wife of labor and employment attorney Claud L. “Tex” McIver. She also served as president of Corey Airport Services, an Atlanta-based marketing company whose logo adorns a smokestack-like structure on the downtown connector.

The McIvers live in Buckhead. Tex McIver is a partner in Fisher Phillips, based in Midtown. According to his bio on the firm's website, McIver's legal career spans 40 years from the military to private practice. He is also a member of the American Bar Association's committee on gun violence.
No funeral plans have been published.
