Buckhead’s newest park was opened to the public earlier this week with pomp and circumstance, and a bit of a welcome surprise for some of the people who helped make the day possible.

Despite earlier reports to the contrary, Charlie Loudermilk Park has found a home for the 200 pavers bought by donors back in 2009 to help pay for the now-defunct Buckhead Alliance’s planned refurbishing of the park, BuckheadView reports. The pavers had originally been installed on the 50-foot clocktower, but did not fit the aesthetic and were slated for removal.

Donors were going to be refunded their money until former Buckhead Alliance head Robin Loudermilk approached Buckhead Community Improvement DIstrict (CID) Executive Director Jim Durrett and landscape architect Robert Hughes and explained that the bricks had been intended to be used as paving stones, and they were installed in an already-planned seating area.
