New Construction in Buckhead Valued at $3 Billion, Development Expected to Shift to Buckhead Village

Real estate in the commercial district is almost exhausted, so new projects will likely be built in the vicinity of Buckhead Atlanta.

Atlanta development gurus headed a panel discussion on the future of Buckhead during a forum held at the St. Regis Hotel last week and agreed that the area’s construction boom will continue, but the epicenter will need to shift as real estate becomes scarce.

BuckheadView reports that Buckhead’s commercial district is quickly running out of open space, with some $3.3 billion in active construction projects ongoing. Panelists from Tishman Speyer and Regent Partners said that once their projects Three Alliance Center and an unnamed mixed-use development next to the Buckhead MARTA station are complete, there won’t be any prime real estate left in the area.

Despite the scarcity in the commercial district, it’s expected that developers will set their sights further down the Peachtree Road corridor to Buckhead Village. A recent study highlighted the corridor as Atlanta’s economic engine, and the recent opening of the $1 billion Buckhead Atlanta development is sure to attract new construction to the locale.
