Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy Reception Brings In $22,450 For Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation
Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy (www.wbmfamilylaw.com) is proud to announce that its August 22 reception raised $22,450 for the Guardian ad Litem Program of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, nearly tripling the amount raised at last year’s inaugural reception.
In its first two years, the event has now raised approximately $31,000 for the program, which in 2012 had faced the prospect of discontinuing its services after losing a grant from Fulton County.
This year’s reception, which was generously and exclusively sponsored by the forensic accounting firm of Callaway Geer and the wealth management firm SignatureFD, was attended by over 100 guests. One hundred percent of the ticket cost ($100) went directly to the Guardian ad Litem program.

“The support from the Atlanta legal community was incredible. Not often can you report over a 100 percent increase in funds raised from one year to the next,” said Jim McGinnis, a partner of Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy and a member of the AVLF Board of Directors. “The Guardian ad Litem Program is a vital resource for underrepresented members of our community.”
AVLF has operated the Guardian ad Litem program in the Fulton County Family Division since 1990. The program provides training for private attorney volunteers to represent Fulton County children from low-income households who are the subject of contested custody actions.
